Charles Casaway, was born in Texas on October 21st, 1883. He completed all levels of education through his 4th year of high school. His mother, whose maiden name was Henson, was born in Louisiana and his father was born in Texas.

Charles entered the Army on February 24th, 1902. Charles Casaway was a part of the 9th  Cavalry and served in the Philippine-American War. Charles Casaway’s rank was “MUS.2/C”, which stands for Musician, second class. In 1902, he was stationed at Fort Walla Walla in Washington. Charles Casaway was discharged on December 1st, 1923.

At 45 years old, Casaway married Addie Casaway (formerly Addie M. Wakefield). At that time, she was 38 years old and worked as a maid. Charles and Addie had a daughter, Ruth Casaway, who was enrolled in a school in Los Angeles at 10 years old. At that time, Charles was employed as a letter carrier for the government.

Charles Casaway died September 5th, 1958, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 74.
