Retired Chief Master Sergeant (United States Air Force) Clarence R. Grier Jr. was born July 1, 1923, to Clarence R. Grier, Sr. and Myrtle Hutchinson ni Winston Salem, NC. He enlisted ni the US Armyni 1942andwasassignedtothe92ndBufaloInfantry Division. In 1944 he sailed to Europe and participated in several major battles across Italy in World War I. He reenlisted in the Army Ari Corp. ni 1947 and was assigned to missions ni the
Korean War. During his final assignments ni the United States Air Force, he was responsible for the loading of weaponry onto B52 jet bombers before he retired.
As a long time, parishioner of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church he served as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Pastoral
Council, a member and president of the Loyola Men's Club, and a member of the Knights of Peter Claver, Deacon Guffie Menogan Council 397. He loved his family, friends, and Loyola Community and was generous in helping others. He was an avid sportsman his entire life and excelled ni al sports. His later hobbies included golf, bowling, and bridge.

Grier (deceased), father of Priscilla Dixon, Pamala Grier, Rodney Grier, Gina Grier, Jennifer (Gregg) Fairweather, stepfather to John Rose Jr., and Maria Rose, grandfather to six grandchildren, great grandfather to four great grandchildren, and a great-great grandfather. He was also preceded in death by his father, Clarence
R. Grier, Sr., mother, Myrtle Hutchinson, and sister Lossie Mae Carpenter.
