Major General Crump Garvin U.S. Army is a Notable burial at https://www.cem.va.gov/cems/nchp/marietta.asp.  He graduated from the US Military Academy, Class of 1920. He served as Chief of Staff of the Americal Division on Guadacanal, and commanded the 164th Infantry Regiment on Fiji and Bougainville. He then became Chief of Staff of the XXIV Corp during the invasion of Leyte and the Philippine campaign. He also served with troops in combat on Okinawa and in Korea. General Garvin retired from the Army in 1958 and lived in the Atlanta area. He died of cancer in Lenbrook Retirement Center in Atlanta. He was survived by his wife, Ollie, a daughter, Kathleen Handley, two sons, Daniel and Ford, 13 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
