Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery

Dan’s dad and my mom were brother and sister, so Dan and I were first cousins. Since we lived in California, we didn’t see each other as often as we liked, but we always enjoyed our visits when Dan and his family came to visit us in California, or when we made a trip to Texas.
When we came to Texas for my mom’s (Jewell Waddell Casstevens) 80th birthday, Dan and Paula hosted us for a wonderful dinner in their beautiful home.
Dan was always a joy to be around and he will always have a place in our hearts. 
Our thoughts are with Paula. They were a wonderful couple. 

Dr. Dan A Waddell, Lt Commander  – Jan 4,1945-June 21, 2024
Dr. Dan A Waddell – loving husband, dedicated veteran, passionate physician – graduated from this life to the next on June 21, 2024. Dan was born January 4, 1945 to William “Dub” and Doris Waddell. After graduating from Texas Christian University, Dan continued his education at the Kirksville College of Osteopathy and Surgery (now part of A.T. Still University in Kirksville, MO). During his time in Kirksville, he met his beloved wife. They were married in May 1970 around the same time Dan received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree. He was then drafted to the US Navy where he became Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Medical Corps in Portsmouth, VA and dutifully served his country during the Vietnam War. 
After his tour in the Navy, Dan and his wife moved to Fort Worth to establish himself as a physician and care for his parents. Dan was part of the charter staffs at Northeast Community Hospital in Bedford and North Hills Hospital, now Medical City North Hills, before opening his own practice with offices in Hurst, Bedford, and Colleyville. Dan was a committed physician who loved his patients and retired a trusted name in internal medicine in 2015 after over three decades. 
Upon arriving at Heaven’s door, Dan was greeted by both of his parents as well as his cousin Sarah Null and her husband Leon. Left on Earth to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Paula; cousins Lisa Pinney (Doug Shockey) and Laura (Butch) Perry; extended family members Barbara (Howard) Joiner, Stephanie (Calvin) Wright, Brittany (Jason) Collins, Tim (Courtney) Pinney, Tom (Cassondra) Pinney, Tobias (Tiffany) Pinney, and D’Ann (Sean) Fletcher; and numerous other beloved family and friends. 
To expand and improve upon existing knowledge of medicine and science, Dr. Dan’s remains have  been donated in order to teach a new generation of doctors in accordance with his wishes. A memorial service for Dr. Dan will be held July 24, 2024 at 3:30 pm at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211. All are welcome to attend.
