Louisiana National Cemetery

I met him in Okinawa, Japan. He was staying at the Camp Hansen base. We always spent weekends together and we both felt so comfortable together, like we had met years ago. He was so sweet and caring, and always had many friends around him. Words cannot describe how amazing he was. He and I have gotten the matching tattoos and it's even more meaningful now, like I feel connected to him at all times. It is so hard not having him in my life, but the next time I see him, we will talk a lot over Hennessy again, love you

Sergeant Turner we serve together on new River Jacksonville, North Carolina refueling aircraft, taking orders,  PT’s. It was a hell of a time with you. I’m sorry to hear of you’re passing. soon We’ll meet each other again at Heaven Gates.

Sergeant, it's been a few months now. I never told you before, but you had a heart for the Corps and for Marines. It's CPL Moore; I'm a veteran now. I served with you. You were the best mix between salt dog, devil dog, and chill dog. My favorite memory of you was the day you said, "I can't imagine you wearing your uniform unless it was a special occasion." We were out at the hot pits on MCAS New River that day. I remember, it was howling cold. You said, "I can only imagine you wearing it on special occasions." I'm fixing to go to the ball this weekend! I'm wearing it for you this time. I love you, brother!

He always made me feel like I could do more for myself and other Marines. He helped me a lot during his time in H&HS. There were times I didn’t know what to do with myself, but he always gave me a goal to head towards. One day, when I was newly promoted to Corporal, he told me I was always capable of being one. He gave me a hug and told me to do more, and that I was one of his favorite Marines he had ever met. Thank you for always giving me hope in times of need.

My brother was the best. Without my brother I would have no family. I have many favorite memories with him but the best is when we will meet again. My favorite, though, is when I saw him this year in March. we met at a bar in our home city. I’ll never forget that night. I’ve had several signs as well as going to said same bar recently after he passed away and his spot where he parked being the only spot open in a car lot full of cars on both sides as i was pulling in. To me, it was a reassuring sign that he is okay. I wish we spent more time together and had more memories. I wish I held him longer and hugged him longer and did more with him when he was back home. I’m really going to miss him, this will never reconcile me to be the same as who I was before he passed away. My brother loved me. My brother loved his family. My brother loves his friends which he called his boys, haha. We lit up any room together and do by ourselves. I cannot believe this is life. My brother lost his older brother to gun violence in 2016, which really hurt him deeply. My brother has now passed that grief onto me and his other older brother who now has lost both of his little brothers. He shares me as my brother and I share different moms and same dad but his brothers share different dads same mom so his brothers are my brothers by brotherhood. I hope i’m making sense. I am biracial meaning black and white. My mother had me at 16 and was kicked out of the house for having me because I was black. My mother made sure my brother and I knew each other growing up. Her last name is Hawkins. My brothers mom’s maiden name is also Hawkins. Shoutout to my dad for that. We have and always will be connected me and my brother although he shares my father last name as Turner. The life that was handed to me is a good one, the way my brother and I were born into the world. Inseparable from the start. I am exactly 36 days older than my little brother. Most people are like yall the same age tho. Well he called me big bro and he was my lil bro and we knew that and loved it that way.  I grew up going from Baton Rouge to Port Hudson to be with my brother and spend weekends and summers with him because as my moms only child it was pretty lonely growing up, although I had a great childhood and friends and pets and a supportive mom who loved me and did her best with the help of my at the time stepfather. Thank God for him too. My dad always came around for school clothes and shoes and for birthdays with gifts most of the time for my brother and I. It did not fill the void for us but we know and knew our father loved us and we spent plenty of time and made great memories with our father but the early stages of our lives my brother and I were rocky because of the fact that our father was a rolling stone so to speak. My brother lived a life worth living and he believed in being happy despite what you are going through. He loved being an Marine. it gave him so much purpose. Growing up when i’d be in Port Hudson to visit my brother i look back now and wish I did more and spent more time with him then too. I’d go over and meet new friends, play with my brother’s cousins, as the years passed by. Momo Betty house we call it. That house is beautiful it holds the memories of quite a few people who meant significantly to my family’s name. But the part that also gets me is without my brother they wouldn’t be my family. My brother was my connection, he was everything to me. He was my rib, my other half. I am torn to pieces that he is not here to celebrate and experience things and have a life anymore. Rell loved to be happy & make memories, dancing and laughing and joking with you about any and everything, even agreeing with you and or just saying things that he know you needed to hear, while not getting the things he needed to hear from the people he was with. He really knew how to hug you, too. He had a firm, strong handshake of a man and had a firm, strong hug of a man also.  He was understanding. He knew how to put on a serious face and knew how to put on a smile. He was intelligent & loved sports & Alabama football, he was from Louisiana but did not rock with the LSU tigers! He was Roll Tide all day. He’s always been country deep down inside being from Port Hudson where it quite literally is the country. He loved horses and he loved his Jack Daniels and Hennessy. His favorite song was I Miss U by Lil Boosie Badazz. He celebrated every year of his brothers birthday anniversary December 2nd in memory of his brother & now I will do the same every June 26th. It’s funny how life works. My mom told me & reminded me to call my brother a day before his birthday this year because thats just what she does. “call your brother its his birthday!” she said. I responded “sometimes being the bigger person gets old” all because he didnt call me for mine on May 20 this year, just being petty & childish really, I should have called him to hear his voice one last time. We had just talked on instagram DM’s may 11th and told each other we loved and missed each other so a part of me really did feel some type of way that he didn’t tell me Happy Birthday. Looking back it was so stupid. My father gave me my brothers. number June 16th to call him because when I called my dad that day they had just gotten off the phone he’s like call your brother i just got off the phone with him I didnt then either. Me & Rell had a certain telepathy about us that we didnt need to talk everyday but when we saw each other it was all love. Now I wish I talked to him every chance I got and I feel as though I failed as a brother but I know he knows I love him so much and we miss him so dearly. I’m sorry I didn’t call you and hit you up more often. I saw my brother at his grandfathers funeral before I saw him for the last time this year and got some good pictures and videos of us living and dancing and smiling and happy. also got one of us at the bar. I have pics vids memories. Just not him.

His selflessness , his love and care for my wife and I , he was my best friend , I always looked forward to seeing him and drinking Michelob and dancing in our boots and cowboy hats. You will forever be my Cowboy Brother and I’ll do anything to keep your spirit alive .
