The first Vietnam War Casualty buried in the cemetery is Private Duncan F. Krueger, Company D, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry. Killed in action on Nov. 17, 1965.  He is a Notable burial at https://www.cem.va.gov/cems/nchp/wood.asp.  Duncan was living with his mother at West Allis after his parents were divorced. He enlisted in the Army 14 September 1964 when he was 17 years and 5 days old. Arriving in Vietnam 16 August 1965 Duncan was assigned D Company,2nd Battalion,179th
Cavalry,1st Cavalry Division,USARV. He was at Ia Drang,at LZ X-Ray and Albany when the battalion encountered hostile forces 7 kilo-meters northeast of Cu Prong Mountain, Hill
732. He died as a result of a gunshot wound to

NCA has 27 monuments honoring Vietnam War service. There are 38 MOH recipients interred. The first U.S. soldier killed in action was Pvt. Duncan F. Krueger.
