George Guey Wong was born on February 6th, 1919, in Canton, China, and had six siblings. By the time he turned 21 years old, he was naturalized, had completed his second year of high school, and was working as a hired hand for Alden and Minna Alexander in San Francisco. George's educational journey started in Oakland, where he learned to read, write, and speak English.

George registered for the Army on October 16th, 1940, and underwent training at Fort Lewis, Washington. He qualified as a marksman with rifle 03 and had the occupational specialty of clerk general. During his military service, George Guey Wong held the rank of Staff Sergeant and was assigned to the 1977th service command unit during World War II. He served from August 5th, 1941, until February 2nd, 1946. He was discharged at Fort Douglas, Utah. 
 George married Suye Ruth Kawase in Uinta, Wyoming, on March 8th, 1945, and had four children. After his military service, George worked as a government-class accountant and arrived in Los Angeles around 1956. 
George Guey Wong died on July 8th, 2001, in La Puente, California.
