JAMES COEY

LTC Coey served with the 147th New York Inf. at Hatchers Run, Virginia. On February 6, 1865, Coey seized the regimental colors at a critical moment, prompting the brigade to follow him. Despite a severe wound, Coey climbed into a saddle and rallied the line again. Due to Coey's actions, the Union gained ground.
