Joseph was a friend in high school at Del Mar. He was my class commander for MCJROTC. He was always so positive. Seeing his death on a friend's post on FB hit HARD. He was always positive and never once negative. He was quiet his first year as a freshman while I was a grade above him. He quickly rose to officer over the course of high-school. He deserved it. Miss you man 

I had the pleasure of promoting Joseph to the rank of Sergeant. He was, without a doubt always the most positive Marine with a smile on his face and nice things to say. All too often within the Marine Corps we find ourselves disgruntled or negative about the unit, commitment to operational requirements, or the general daily grind. We look to leaders who lead by example and whose actions reflect certain traits of confidence and positivity even on the worst days. Joseph's positive demeanor and go-getter attitude motivated me whenever I had the opportunity to cross paths. I'll forever cherish and reflect on his wonderful character and positivity in the face of diversity. He was an outstanding young man.
