Lloyd C. Stearman is a Notable burial at https://www.cem.va.gov/cems/nchp/losangeles.asp.  He studied engineering and architecture at Kansas State University in 1917-18, before enlisting in the U.S. Navy Reserve Flying Corps. He served from August 1918 through the end of World War I. Aviation Chief Rigger Stearman continued his career as a mechanic and pilot, exploring innovation in aeronautical design. By 1924, he was the chief engineer for Swallow Airplane Co. and, in 1927, formed his own aircraft- manufacturing company. Between the wars, Boeing Co. acquired Stearman’s business and with it, the popular Model 75 military trainer. This biplane, known as the “Stearman trainer,” took on greater importance with World War II and its use by the U.S. Army Air Corps and Navy. Stearman remained an industry leader and innovator until 1967 when he retired from Lockheed Aircraft Co. He died April 3, 1975.  https://www.kshs.org/kansapedia/lloyd-stearman/16724.
