Second Lieutenant Lloyd H. Hughes (World War II) is a Notable burial at https://www.cem.va.gov/cems/nchp/ftsamhouston.asp. He received the Medal of Honor posthumously for service in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 564th Bomber Squadron, 389th Bomber Group, 9th Air Force, in recognition of his heroic decision to complete his mission regardless of the personal consequences during the Ploesti Raid, in Rumania, August 1, 1943. Documents Hughes' full name, rank, decorations, and text from his Medal of Honor.

Born in Louisiana, Lloyd Hughes who was called "Pete" most of his life, moved with his family to Texas as a child and spent most of his life growing up in San Antonio. Of the ten men aboard his B-24 in the historic Ploesti low-level bombing raid, five others were killed, two died of their wounds within days and the two who survived the crash became prisoners of war. 
He was one of five men (and one of three posthumous awards) to received the Medal of Honor for actions in the historic August 1, 1943, low-level bombing mission against Ploesti. On November 13, 2010, he was inducted into the Louisiana Military Hall of Fame.
