Lynn Chandnois was born in Fayette, Michigan. He moved to Flint to attend high school and upon graduation joined the U.S. Navy in 1944. He served two years in the Naval Air Corps during World War II and was discharged in 1946. After his military service, Chandnois attended Michigan State University, where he played football. Chandois was voted MVP in 1948 and an All-American in 1949. After college he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played eight seasons until injuries caused him to retire in 1958. Chandois still holds the Steelers record for returning two kick-offs for touchdowns in 1952. That same year he was voted to the NFL All-Pro team and was the NFL Player of the year. Following his football career, he returned to Michigan to live out the rest of his days.

Lynn Chandnois was born in Fayette, MI in Michigan's Upper Peninsula in 1925.  He then moved to Flint, MI to attend High school.  He joined the US Navy in 1944.  Following WWII Chandnois attended Michigan State University playing football, and basketball (for one year).  He was the team’s MVP in 1948 and was also on the All-American team in 1949.  He was elected as Michigan’s Outstanding Amateur Athlete in 1950.  After graduating, he was first signed to the Cleveland Browns, but then was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1950 where he played for seven NFL seasons.  He still holds the Steelers record for returning two kickdowns for touchdowns in 1952 where he played right half-back.  In 1952 he was voted to the NFL All-Pro team and was also voted NFL Player of the year.  After retiring he returned to Flint, Michigan.
