Pavel "Paul" Grepl, a man whose life was defined by courage, adventure, and creativity, passed away on July 10, 2024, at the age of 48, due to multiple organ failure in Oklahoma City. Born on June 19, 1976, in the Czech Republic, Paul's journey took him far from his native land, yet he always held his roots close to his heart, cherishing the family and friends he left behind.

Paul's formative years were spent in the Czech Republic, where he developed a profound appreciation for his heritage. His quest for knowledge led him to the United States, where he earned a bachelor's degree from Cameron University, followed by a master's degree that set the stage for his remarkable contributions in his field.

A patriot at heart, Paul's career was marked by distinguished service as a Field Artillery Officer in the United States Army. His dedication to his country was recognized through numerous awards, including five Army Commendation Medals, an Army Achievement Medal, two Army Good Conduct Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, a Kosovo Campaign Medal, an Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, a Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, an Army Service Ribbon, an Overseas Service Ribbon, a NATO Medal, and a Driver and Mechanic Badge with a Mechanic Clasp. Paul's military service was not just a job; it was a calling that he embraced with every fiber of his being.

Beyond his military accolades, Paul was a man who found joy and fulfillment in the simplicities of life. His hands, skilled and steady, built the family home—a testament to his creativity and determination. He found peace and pleasure in the quiet moments spent on the porch of that home, sitting alongside his beloved wife, Michelle. Together, they created a sanctuary filled with love, laughter, and the shared dreams of their family.

Paul's legacy is carried on by his devoted parents, Susan and Tom Atwater; his loving children, Michaela Odom, Jectt Odom, Tim Grepl, and Lilian Westfall; grandchild Koa Grepl-Ramos; and a community of family and friends spanning from Oklahoma to the Czech Republic. Each of them bears the imprint of Paul's adventurous spirit and unwavering commitment to living a life of purpose.

Those who knew Paul understood that his life was a portrait of bravery. Whether facing the challenges of military service or the daily tasks of crafting a home, he approached every endeavor with a fearless heart. Committal service with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK.
