RICHARD RUSSELL RICHTER
01/25/1940 – 05/03/2024

Richard “Dick” Russell Richter, age 84, passed away on May 3rd, 2024, at his home in Englewood, FL.

Dick is survived by his wife of 35 years, Trudy (Buska) Richter; brother Thomas (Judy) Richter, sister Sharon (Mike Freitag) Groenke; children Julianne (Brian) Hlavka, Richard Richter, John (Laura) Richter, Mary (Mary Keating) Richter, Linda (Frank Becker) Lucas; stepchildren Danielle White, Traci (Daniel) Lopes, Christopher White. 

He has 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Vlasta (Zvoda) Richter, brother-in-law Harold Groenke, grandson in law Russell Reff and many dear friends. 

Dick lived a long and full life. He grew up in Kenosha, WI and attended elementary though high school there.  He worked as a journeyman Machinist for American Motors/Chrysler Corp and retired after 25 years.  He was an avid car buff and very active in the Kenosha car scene in the 1950’s and 1960’s.  His lifelong passion with motorcycles and riding took him all across the country, where he attended rallies/shows and won many awards for his bikes.  His love of the water and boating took him and the family (and an occasional dog) all over the Great Lakes for many adventures. This love of boating even had him elected as the Commodore of the Kenosha Yacht Club.  

He was a talented photographer and budding artist.   Along the way he was also a downhill skier, scuba diver, landscaper/gardener and a master (self-proclaimed) handyman.

He was an Army Reserve Veteran and was a member of local VFW, and Eagles Clubs.

Dick rarely met anyone he didn’t like or couldn’t talk to.  He could make friends with just about anyone.

Funeral services will be held in Union Grove, WI on June 4th, 2024, at 12:45pm at:

Richter & my husband, Dick went to H.S. together & I met him as a result of their friendship.  Richter & I have remained friends all these decades later.  The guys were in a local car club together called the Viscounts.  In one of the pictures, Richter was presenting me with a first place trophy in a Road Ralley.  The other picture, Rick stood up for us in our wedding.  Richter was always a great dancer & he & I sure could “do The Bop” together.  He always had the biggest smile & loved life.  I will definitely miss our phone conversations & happy cards @ Christmas.  Yes, I will miss Dick Richter but now he & Dick Despin can get back to their cars….
